Aromatic plants contain aromatic compounds, also known as essential oils. These oils are odorous, volatile, hydrophobic, and highly concentrated compounds.
About Seeds
Cumin seeds, also known as jeera in Hindi, are the dried seeds of the Cuminum cyminum plant, which is part of the parsley family. The seeds are thin, yellowish-brown, oval-shaped, and about 6 mm (0.25 in) long. Each seed has five prominent ridges, and the other ridges form a grid-like pattern. Cumin seeds contain 2.5–4.5% essential oil, mainly cumaldehyde.
